Hi, my name is Richard and my interest in horticulture started years ago when still at middle school.
This was pursued ever since as a hobby rather than a business.
Over the years a large collection of unusual plants were grown and propagated for friends.
With working fulltime it was still only a hobby, then disaster struck at work and I was attacked whilst delivery a parcel to a customer by two Rottweilers.
This ‘accident’ meant I could no longer work fulltime for the company I had been with for over 8 years, so they ‘forced’ me to leave.
With living on a boat on the canal I took the plunge and started my own business.
The piece of land I rented to grow my plants was expanded and now have a growing business that I am proud of.
This also allows me to work at my own pace and give my loyal customers the service and advice that they require.
With being a sole trader and the land being 6 miles from the boat it is not possible to have personal callers as I never know if I will be at home doing invoices and guides or working on the land.
The ukulele was a personal hobby of mine until the word got out that I made felt plectrums.
With the constant demand for me to supply them I have included them in my shop, they now sell worldwide and even have regular customers in Hawaii.
I hope this gives a bit of background on me and what I do.
