Original large woodcut print from 'The Illustrated London News' of July 7th, 1888. Well over 100 years old and in good condition. With wide border. Ideal for framing! Please note, the picture above is compressed for display online, the original print will show much more detail. General Information: Woodcut - Woodcuts are the simplest form of print. They are made by cutting an image into a block of wood. The artist cuts away the areas that he does not want to show in the finished image. The uncut areas or lines that go to make the image are left raised on the block. The block is then inked and the print made, usually under light pressure. Woodcuts were commonly used in the 19th century for the reproduction of illustrations in newspapers, books and magazines. Postage and packing on multiple orders - no extra charge regardless of quantity ordered.
