Sturm's Reflections upon The Works of God 1842
Auction Description

Sturm's Reflections on the Works of God

Title : STURM'S REFLECTIONS ON THE WORKS OF GOD; AND OF HIS PROVIDENCE THROUGHOUT ALL NATURE
Author : Christopher Christian Sturm
Publisher :  (also Printer) William Milner, Cheapside, Halifax
ISBN :  -
Date of Publication : MDCCCXLII - 1842
First Edition :  -
Subject :  Spiritual meditations, reflections and homilies - 365 in all, each one titled with a day of the year (eg. February XXVIII) - focusing on God's Works through Nature
Format : Hardback, xvi, 672 pages, 2 illus. at opening
Dimensions : 227mm x 80mm x 42mm thick
Condition :  Though 166 years old, this book is somewhat battered yet the text pages are good. Dark brown cloth bound with gilt lettering on spine panel, gilt to all page edges. Spine panel of cover detached. Page binding itself entire with board covers still attached though hinges are split, cover corners of covers rubbed. Primrose end papers. The two illustrated pages at opening have some staining and foxing. Remainder of text pages clean and clear.

Narrative extract : "Let us walk into some flowery Valley, And there sing a Hymn of praise to our Creator."

My Comments : The detached spine panel is included should it be repairable. The book is in English translated from the German of Sturm. Price shown is realistic taking into account its condition.
