20 Years of Breaking News book

To recognise its landmark 20 Years, Sky News has announced that it will release a special ’20 Years of Breaking News’ book, featuring chapters written by some of Sky News’ most experienced correspondents and presenters, its pioneering management, past and present, and many others who have been part of the Sky News story over the last 20 Years. Chapters include 20 years of Crime reporting, by Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt, who joined Sky News back at the very beginning when the studio was more or less still a building site. He talks about his time reporting on Moors Murdered Myra Hindley, the Jill Dando case, the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and his time spent with some of the UK’s most notorious ‘villains’ in a bid to get them to appear on Sky News.

Jeremy Thompson recounts his various experiences as Africa Correspondent of being shot at, witnessing the Rwandan genocide first hand and his many meetings with Nelson Mandela.

Kay Burley talks about how it felt to be live on air as she watched images of the second plane hit the twin towers on September 11th 2001, and how she prepared to officially announce the death of Diana, Princess of Wales to a shocked nation.

Sky News’ Asia correspondent Alex Crawford looks at the issue of whether a woman, especially a mother, should be doing the often highly dangerous job of a foreign correspondent in one of the most unstable regions of the world. While ex-head of Sky News Nick Pollard looks at how Sky News took some brave decisions and made ground-breaking use of technology to bring some of the most memorable news moments of the last two decades to viewers’ screens.
