My Comments : Set mainly in the Dutch East Indies among the 'nutmeg lords' - though adventurers, old soldiers and rogues - they were among the richest men in the world. A story centering on the traditional 'glove' marriage, and the reversal of fortunes of a rags to riches peasant boy and an aristocratic family that had lost its fortunes. One of Norah Lofts' early books - yet still a gripping historical novel.
