MXI Graphics set for SGI Octane(2), 030-0957-003 +TRAMs

MXI graphics board set for SGI (Silicon Graphics) Octane or Octane2, SGI PNs 030-0957-003 (base SSI) plus 2 x 030-0961-002 (TRAMs), with XIO carrier and blanking plates included. This is the best of the original series of IMPACT-based (MGRAS) graphics options for Octane/Octane2, actually quite good for getting started with Blender, etc. MXE is faster, but much more expensive. MXI is technologically the same as MaxIMPACT in Indigo2, but Octane can get much more out of it than Indigo2 can (see my Indigo2/Octane comparison page for details).

MXI is the same speed as SSI for any non-textured task, but twice as fast as SI. For textures, it is of course massively faster than SI/SSI since it has hardware texture mapping. Thus, MXI is 2X faster than SI+Texture for everything. Full benchmarks on my site.

AUCTION NOTES:

1. This item is too heavy for small-packet airmail once securely boxed, and using Royal Mail standard parcels is actually more expensive than the rates I have with ParcelForce (costs me 2.40 UKP to go to a post office by bus), so shipping is by courier only, but the cost is actually less than ordinary mail in many cases, especially to central European nations.

2. I'm happy to combine auctions. I have fixed shipping rates for PF Express24/48 (UK) and PF/EPB (mainland Europe) courier services, so combining auctions is very economical, ie. except for packaging materials and insurance cover, the cost is the same no matter what the weight. An extra charge is only required if the insurance has to be increased beyond 150 UKP (+5 to increase the cover to 500), or if a lot more packaging is required. Thus, for example, the Express48/UK shipping cost for a CPU, PSU, motherboard, Xbow and RAM kit for Octane/Octane2 would still just be 12.50 UKP (or 17.50 if the total value did go over 150 UKP).
