Auction Description

Hippo Bank, Yone, Yoneya, Japan.

Original vintage clockwork tinplate novelty money bank toy from Yoneya, Japan. Comes complete with original box. The toy is marked "Yone" and "Made in Japan". The box is marked ASI (Azrak Hamway International, New York), presumably the importer. Clockwork action. When wound a coin can be placed on the stand provided. When the lever is pulled back slightly the clockwork motor opens the Hippo's mouth and the coin is flicked through into the interior of the bank. In very good condition, very slight signs of use, working order. Good box with some wear and tear, particularly around the window area. Dates to the 1960's.
