Antique V.Ayelense embossed green 4Ltr bottle 1840-1870
Auction Description

Antique 1840-1870 V.Ayelense embossed
green 4 litre bottle

Angle-moulded Applied Taper, embossed "V.AYELENSE" and "4N". Remnants of sealing material on taper. Tiny chip on inside of lip.

Body slightly tapered towards base, raised mould lines running from concave base inset up to taper. Mould line round neck below taper. Mould lines on taper NOT in line with those of body (at approx 90 degrees). There are one or two faint swirling lines on body possibly from hairs caught in the moulding process.

Rounded base with 90mm circular concave inset and raised mould line. NO Pontil mark. Many bubbles, some quite large, evident towards base of bottle and in concave inset of base.

Height 305mm, maximum diameter approx 190mm. Colour - aqua green. Nett weight 1.22 Kg. I have measured its capacity - maximum 4.35 litres, to bottom of neck - 4 litres. Condition very good and as seen in photos.

I am no expert on antique glass, but some research suggests this item is a genuine Ayelense bottle dating from 1840-1870, rather than a repro. It would appear that Vidiero Ayelense was a 19th century glass bottle maker in the Valencia area of Spain. All details given are in good faith and to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Owing to the fragile nature of this item, I have offered a sole postal option of Special Delivery. Item will be well packaged for safety in transit.
